Wembury to Bigbury on sea

Our biggest day yet 17.5 miles (43,000 steps) ! We left Wembury early to get little electric ferry across the Yealm river . Then began our walk with a slight error ( this is becoming a bit of a trend) so one extra up and down 😊 it was a lovely walk ( albeit with me and a limp due to sore foot) through woods , along the river , crashing seas , rugged coastline , wind and a bit of rain of course , today had it all . Many people have said this is a tricky part of the walk due to being reliant on tides etc and having to navigate three river crossings and many people have messed it up , so did we. We arrived at the river Erme with a long wait for it to be safe to cross ( no ferrys on this bit) . Got talking to a lovely lady who drove us around to the other side . We had to walk a bit on a road to resume the path further up and on to Bigbury on sea where we were meeting friends for the night . Thank you so much to Jane and Pat for looking after us , feeding us etc and getting some washing done . Tomorrow we will walk the next bit without our packs as leaving them here and returning for

another night of luxury .
